About the Department of Defence Studies
Established in UG (2017) & PG (2020), the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies (DSS) at Sree Ramu College of Arts and Science offers comprehensive undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Defence Studies. The department is committed to building institutional knowledge of India’s national security and provides contemporary education in Security Studies. We aim to nurture skilled individuals who will contribute to sustainable development through a deep understanding of national and global security issues.

The Department of Defence Studies at SRC distinguishes itself through its comprehensive approach to preparing students for careers in both civil and uniform services. We provide tailored instruction to equip students for success in Civil Service Examinations and examinations for Uniform Services, spanning both central and state levels. This targeted preparation ensures our students are well-prepared to pursue diverse career paths within these sectors.
Personality Development Classes are Integrated into our curriculum, these classes aim to cultivate and enhance the leadership qualities of our students, fostering traits such as decision-making, communication, and strategic thinking essential for success in the field. We prioritize practical learning experiences through field visits and trekking, providing students with real-world exposure relevant to their studies. This hands-on approach enriches their understanding and appreciation of defence studies concepts and principles.
By emphasizing specialized training at SRC, fostering a sense of pride and discipline through our uniform, integrating personality development classes, providing practical exposure, and offering internship opportunities, we ensure that our students are well-equipped to excel in their pursuits within the civil and uniform services sectors.
The Rampart Association, a Defence Studies student organization, conducts various activities such as seminars, guest lectures, workshops, department activities, field visits, security sessions, and government exam preparation for students.

- The program is an excellent foundation for pursuing officer-level positions in the Armed Forces.

- Other career paths include positions as Ground Duty Officers in various forces such as the CRPF, ITBP, CISF, AR, SSB, NSG, RPF, SSC, and State Police forces.
